Faces of Magnum:

Bryce Allickson

Always up for the challenge, Director of Safety and Compliance Bryce Allickson commits to making sure Magnum employees across all divisions are safe.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I grew up in Montevideo in West Central Minnesota. Growing up, I spent most of my time active outdoors and in sports.  After high school, I attended Minnesota State University Moorhead where I double majored in Athletic Training and Exercise Science.  After MSUM, I did a semester at Minnesota State Community and Technical College where I received a Certificate in Fire Service.

Six years ago, I joined the West Fargo Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter.  Since then, the department has transitioned to a full-time department with additional paid on-call staff.  I am currently a paid on-call Captain and have been in that role for the last three years.

I have been married for five years to my wife Kayla who is a Nuclear Medicine Technician at Sanford.  We live in West Fargo, ND and have two boys, ages four and two (Cam and Carter).  Last year we bought a camping lot on Lake Mary outside of Alexandria, MN and spend most of our summer weekends at the lake.

What’s the best part of your job?

Dealing with new challenges every day. Work at Magnum is not stale.  Being a part of the Safety Department, you never know what challenges are going to come up each day.  I would rather be challenged than be bored with my work.

What is the hardest part about your job?

Being consistent and fair.

What is something you’re proud of about your career?

There has been a lot of positive changes, communication, and buy in when it comes to the importance of safety at Magnum over the past few years.  I like to think that myself and the rest of the Safety Department team has had a lot to do with that.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Spend as much time at the lake as possible and working out.  I try and get some kind of workout in just about every day.
