Faces of Magnum:

Renee Knodle

For nearly 22 years, corporate receptionist Renee Knodle has quite literally been the “face of Magnum.”

What is your current job title?

Corporate Receptionist.

How long have you worked at Magnum?

It’ll be 22 years this month. I started in 1999.

Why did you choose to work at Magnum?

Well, there was an ad in the paper. I applied, interviewed and got the job. I had been working in an office setting for quite a while, but I was just looking for something else. The ad said that Magnum Logistics was looking for a receptionist, and I remember that I didn’t know what logistics was. I had to look it up to find out!

Can you tell us a bit about the day-to-day of your job?

I sit at the front desk answering phones and greeting people coming in and out. I have some assigned work that I do too like sorting and sending mail. Some of my duties have changed a bit since a new software came into play, so I’m learning some new things too. The day usually goes by fast. No day is the same — maybe the phones are busier one day than they were the day before, or something comes my way that I didn’t really expect.

Being here for so long, I’ve become a familiar face to our frequent visitors like the sales representatives for Peterbilt or ThermoKing. I’ve kind of created a rapport with them.

What’s the best part of your job?

I enjoy being good and busy, and most of the time, I am. And I also enjoy the variety. I don’t think I’d enjoy my job as much if it was just answering the phones or just doing data entry.

What is the hardest part about your job?

Sometimes just balancing everything. It can get really busy, and sometimes I have a long to-do list. Balancing everything can be challenging at points.

What is something in your career that you are proud of?

I would say the longevity. I always wanted to be at a company for a long time. That isn’t really true to date anymore — people don’t stay as long. For me, I just really wanted to be at a place for a long time and earn that longevity.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out at Magnum?

Be open to change! I’ve been through quite a few changes since I started at Magnum, but they are all good changes.

What is something people might not know about you?

I have a cat named Finny. He keeps me on my toes.

What do you like to do when you aren’t at work?

I have five granddaughters and one grandson who just joined us here in January. I’m really family-oriented and love to spend time with family.
