Faces of Magnum:
Marlene Hadwiger
From gardening to tracking down lost freight, Kearney’s OS&D Dock Specialist Marlene Hadwiger stays busy both on and off the clock.
Tell me a bit about yourself, Marlene!
I’m happily married and the proud grandma of two beautiful grandboys who I adore and who keep me young, most days. I love gardening just about everything, tomatoes, green beans, carrots, squash, you name it, and I’m completely addicted to puzzles. I’m also a big sports fan, especially the Cubs and Nebraska Volleyball.
What is your current job title and what do you find most challenging about your job?
I work at Magnum as an OS&D Dock Specialist. The most challenging part of my job is tracking down lost freight. I send out all OS&D searches, follow up with shippers and receivers, check the docks, gather detailed descriptions, and follow every lead until we have answers. It takes persistence, strong communication, and a lot of problem solving, but I take pride in doing everything I can to make it right.
How long have you worked at Magnum?
I’ve been with Magnum for almost 15 years. When Coleman closed down, I was offered this position and accepted it. I was hired in less than a week and felt very blessed, especially since I didn’t even apply. I had previously worked at Baldwins and had a connection here through that experience.
What is your favorite part about working at Magnum?
The work and the people. I don’t know how to say it any simpler.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out at Magnum?
Relax and enjoy!
What’s something that might surprise me to know about you?
I love crafts and ran the Kearney Craft Show for 27 years. I’m still part of it, but I passed it on to my nieces, so now I get to step back and enjoy watching it continue to grow.
The next Craft and Trade Show is April 11, 2026, so if you’re in the Kearney area, be sure to check it out!
