33 Years, Millions of Miles and Plenty of Patience: Meet OTR Driver Regina Singler

After 33 years in trucking, Regina Singler’s biggest lesson is simple: have patience.

“You can’t go any faster than the one in front of you,” she said. “Protect your CDL. You worked hard to get it.”

Now in her eighth year driving OTR for Magnum, Regina brings decades of experience as a driver, trainer and instructor, usually with Hazel and Gigi along for the ride.

From the Kid Asking for the Air Horn to a 33-Year Career

Regina grew up in Indiana and spent summers in Nebraska, where she was the kid asking truck drivers to blow their horns. At 25, she enrolled in truck driving school and completed 350 hours of training.

With no truck drivers in her family, Regina learned the industry from the ground up. That experience later inspired her to become an instructor, third-party examiner, assistant director of training and driver trainer.

“I wanted to take it one step further and share the knowledge I’ve learned out here,” she said.

A Truck That Feels a Little More Like Home

Life on the road is easier with the right setup. Regina appreciates Magnum’s newer equipment, APU, refrigerator, inverter and pet-friendly policy.

She also encourages drivers to take care of themselves, including cooking in the truck instead of relying on fast food.

“You can cook for yourself in the truck. It’s not hard.”

Regina’s Advice for New Drivers

After 33 years in trucking, Regina’s advice is simple: know your job, protect your CDL and keep learning.

“Knowledge is power. The more you know about your job, the more successful you’re going to be.”

And above all, have patience. The road comes with plenty you can’t control, and staying calm helps keep the job safer and less stressful.

Life on the Road

After 33 years in trucking, Regina has seen a lot from behind the wheel. She loves spotting wildlife, especially the eagles near La Crosse, Wisconsin, and has a few favorite Magnum stops along the way.

But one of the biggest lessons she’s learned is that trucking is a team effort. “You are a player on the largest team you’ll ever be associated with,” Regina said. Whether it’s leaving equipment ready for the next driver or simply looking out for one another, she believes everyone plays a part.

After eight years with Magnum, Regina is still keeping freight moving, sharing what she’s learned and helping make the road a little better for the drivers who come next.
