Faces of Magnum:

Michael Groesser

Magnum LTL Driver Michael Groesser is the true definition of a family man. When he isn’t working, he is spending time with both his own family and his Magnum family.

Tell me a little about yourself?

I am 36 years old. I’m married with two children: a son, Benson (8) and a daughter, Ava (15). My family and I enjoy spending time together and being outdoors. When we aren’t enjoying our four-acre home, we like camping, off-roading, fishing, hunting, and just being outside in general.

How long have you had your CDL?

I have had my CDL since I was 18 years old.

How long have you been with Magnum?

I joined Magnum in October of 2021.

Why did you choose to work for Magnum?

I chose to come work at Magnum because I had some great friends that I have known for years who worked for Brown Transfer. When Magnum bought out Brown Transfer, my friends told me, “You have to come work here, it is a great place!” I waited for an opening as a P&D Driver and put in my application. My friends were correct in everything they preached about this company. Magnum has reshaped the P&D for us as employees in the Kearney area.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

In my 18 years as a driver, I have worked for four other companies and none of them compared to how family-oriented Magnum is. Our Kearney terminal is one big family. We hangout on the weekends and we know each others families. It is a great place to work!

Why did you become a truck driver?

I chose to become a truck driver because of the potential to make a good living, without having a large college tuition loan to pay off. I also chose it because it isn’t an office where I am trapped behind a desk. I have a full 6′ window to look out of and the scenery is always changing.

What is the best thing about being an LTL Driver?

The best thing about being an LTL Driver is my home time with my family. I tried going OTR for a year, and found that I need to be home with my family. It is best for us when I am home everyday.

What is your favorite music to listen to on the road?

My favorite music to listen to when on the road is anything Disney. It may seem weird to some that a grown man likes Disney, however I am a kid at heart. Listening to Disney music keeps me young. (Yes, my friends are aware of it and they make fun of me but it’s okay, they are just jealous of my great taste).

What is something you thing everyone should know about truck driving?

The thing everyone should know about truck driving is that it is NOT just a job, it is a lifestyle. Everything you do affects you when you obtain your CDL. One bad choice can reflect in loss of job, loss of license, and loss of life.

What advice would you give someone just starting at Magnum?

For the last 18 years, I have continued to learn more and more about driving a semi. Every road is different, every load is different. Everything is at a constant change. You HAVE to stay on your toes at all times.
