What is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week?National Truck Driver Appreciation Week was founded by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) in 1998. It's a designated week in September to honor the 3.6 million truck drivers in America.
In 2022, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week falls on the third week of September, the 11-17. Motor carriers, trucking associations, and many other entities use this week to show support and appreciation for America’s drivers who sacrifice their time while delivering goods for our families.
Truck drivers are the backbone of our economy; they keep our communities stocked and safe. Truckers deliver about 10 billion tons of freight each year, all to supply our families with what we need. Because of their sacrifices, we are able to keep our homes full and our families fed. On average, truck drivers drive 100,000 miles out on the road per year in the U.S. alone.
While a week is certainly not enough time to show appreciation, Magnum plans and takes part in several initiatives to celebrate the hard working men and women who work tirelessly to deliver our goods safely and on time. In honor of America’s highway heroes, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is dedicated to recognize and show admiration for the hard, grueling work that often doesn’t get enough credit.
Here at Magnum, we do our best to provide meals every day of the week at every terminal, along with many other initiatives to show our drivers that we appreciate everything they do for us. Additionally, we give away Magnum merchandise and gift cards throughout the week via our social media pages.
Lastly, one simple initiative that everyone could take is taking the time to say thank you. Those two simple words go a long way for drivers who spend long days and nights delivering goods to keep America operating smoothly. Whether at a truck stop or using the #ThankATrucker hashtag on social media, use a spare second to help these men and women feel appreciated.
